Bank of Uganda (BOU) Hands Over an Equiped Theater at Kigorobya Health Center IV in Hoima District

Dr Michael Atingi-Ego, the Deputy Governor Bank of Uganda has today handed over an equipped theater at Kigorobya Health Center IV to improve health services to the communities of Hoima and the surrounding population.

This support to Hoima District is part of the cooperate social responsibility (CSR) that BOU is giving back to the public with an aim of improving health care services most especially to maternal and child health care services in the country.

The function was graced by different officials from BOU headed by the Deputy Governor BOU Dr Michael Atingi-Ego, Ministry of Health headed by the Permanent Secretary Dr. Diane Atwine, District team headed by the CAO Mr. Ssempala Emmanuel, the chairperson Hoima Mr. Uthuman Mubarak with other political leaders, the security team and other community members.

The CAO appreciated BOU for the kind support given to the district and Kigorobya Health Center IV in particular and thanked the ministry of health for accepting and choosing Hoima to benefit. He appealed to the PS MOH to support the district in lobbying and acquiring more wage so that the critical staff can be recruited to offer services to the people of Hoima.

In his remarks, the District Chairperson applauded the support given to Hoima and pledged full support to the facility to ensure that the theater is put to use to support mothers giving birth. He appealed to the ministry to increase on the medical supplies for the district since the catchment area supported by the district health facilities is big.

“Our health facilities in the Hoima get patients from other districts like Bulisa, Pakwach, and even the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo and the medications available is not enough,” He said.

In her remarks, Dr Atwine expressed deep appreciation for the Bank’s generous contribution, acknowledging the transformative impact the theatre will have on local healthcare services.

“We sincerely thank the Bank of Uganda for this invaluable support. This theatre will play a pivotal role in saving lives and significantly improving surgical services at Kigorobya HCIV,” she said.

Dr Atwine also called on health workers to respect the efforts made to establish such essential facilities, stressing the importance of service delivery.

Dr Atingi-Ego, Deputy Governor of BoU, highlighted the Bank’s ongoing dedication to addressing Uganda’s healthcare challenges through strategic partnerships.

“This theatre, now in the hands of the committed staff and the community of Kigorobya Health Centre IV, marks the 12th health facility supported by our CSR programme. Through this initiative, we reaffirm our steadfast commitment to improving maternal and child health across Uganda,” he said.
