Leaders in Hoima District have called for a need to increase on road funding to the districts by the central government in order to improve on service delivery.
The call has been sounded today during the launching of two road projects in Buseruka, Bombo and Kisukuma sub counties.
The two roads are; Gamugole, Lyato-Kikyora (5KM) in Buseruka Sub County which will cost about 73 Million Shillings and the Haibale-Hanga-Buhirigi (12KM) connecting Bombo and Kisukuma sub counties which will cost about 128 Million Shillings.
While launching the two road projects at Gamugole trading center and Hanga market respectively on Wednesday 9th September,2026 , Mbabazi Rogers the Resident District Commissioner, Hoima has urged residents to take advantage of road infrastructure development to support government programs. He has commended the district leadership for prioritizing road infrastructure development to support local economy.
Uthuman Mugisha Mubarak the Hoima District Chairperson has reassured residents in Buseruka, Bombo and Kisukuma sub counties of the district leadership’s commitment to improving the road network. He says the district has been able to improve on the district’s road network using the meager resources available. He added that more other services more especially water, electricity, health facilities and schools will be extended to the sub counties.
Hon Wembabazi Beatrice the Woman Member of parliament, Hoima has called for community involvement in implementation of the road projects by monitoring the works to have value for money. She said roads are a key ingredient of local economy through connectivity to markets and other social services like education and health.
Hon Mulindambura Magambo Jackson the District Speaker has urged members of parliament to advocate for increment of road funding to local governments in order to improve on service delivery.
Mwesigwa Stephen the Senior Assistant Secretary who represented the CAO, Hoima has urged the beneficiaries of the road projects to use them as an avenue of accessing markets for their agriculture products and increase on their household incomes.
Leaders including members of the District Executive Committee, Godfrey Komakech the District Councilor for Buseruka, Darlison Kusiima the Female Councilor for Bombo and Kisukuma, Opio Julius the LCIII Chairperson Buseruka and the district technical team graced the launching of the two road projects.
