Hoima District has held a joint monitoring and feedback meeting with community integrated development initiative
Today the district has held a joint monitoring and feedback meeting with Community Integrated Development Initiative – CIDI aimed at disseminating the progress of the implemented activities.
The Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Ssempala Emmanuel called upon CIDI and other partners to always have such engagements with the district and the different stakeholders to the community level to enable sustainability of the projects being implemented in the district.
The CAO requested CIDI to support the district in planting trees to conserve the environment and CIDI promised to support the district with 200 trees. Given the current changes in the weather conditions, CIDI is mobilizing and supporting communities to plant trees to overcome the adverse effects.
During the meeting, The Vice Chairperson Mrs. Mulumba Hellen appreciated the works of CIDI in implementing the Community Agriculture Initiative in the communities of Hoima. These interventions should fully be felt in the communities of greater Kigorobya and Buseruka, She said. She called upon Total energies to continue supporting such programs.
The Deputy Resident District Commissioner Mr. Kyakashari Michael tasked CIDI to consider the planned intervations for the communities and deliver them as planned to cause change in the communities, not to put taxi payers’ money to waste.
Communities should be supported to grow specific crops that can generate income for there homes and not to go bandwagon on crops that may not be favored by the soils in the a given area.
Community Integrated Development Initiatives (CIDI) is a National NGO that coordinates and implements several projects in Uganda. CIDI works at the vanguard of community development focusing on four thematic areas; water and sanitation promotion, sustainable agriculture for food and incomes, health promotion, conflict prevention and peace resolution.
CIDI was contracted by Total Energies EP Uganda to implement a 3 years Community Agriculture Initiatives project for livelihood restoration in 5 Districts of Hoima, Buliisa, Kikuube, Pakwach and Nwoya.
