The DRDC Hoima has commissioned 2 Maize Milling Facilities for farmer organizations under ACDP.

The Deputy RDC Kyakashari Micheal  has commissioned 2 maize processing and bulking facilities;  Kwataniza Womens Farmers Group and Buhanika  Rice Farmers Cooperative Society ltd in Buseruka subcounty and Buhanika Subcounty respectively.
These facilities were constructed under Agriculture Cluster Development Project (ACDP) matching grant to benefit the community farmer groups.


During the commissioning, the Vice Chairperson Hon. Mulumba Hellen encouraged the group members to put more efforts towards increased agriculture productivity so that these processing facilities can get enough supplies.

This project was aimed at improving post-harvest handling and value addition, through providing matching grants of up to USD 75,000 to support 67% of required investments by Producer Organizations (POs) in acquiring postharvest handling, grading, storage, and processing facilities/machinery.  This was meant to support farmers undertake bulking, value addition and collective marketing of quality produce for better prices thus realize better incomes.

Matching grants were provided to farmer organizations to help them scale up operations and improve their profitability. Support was extended for post-harvest handling, storage and value addition at community level. Organizations were selected on basis of managerial capacity, business plans and commitment to finance one-third of the investment costs.
