Hoima Schools Urged To Embrace Girl Guide and Scouting in Promoting Patriotism.

Schools and other education institutions in Hoima District have been urged to embrace scouting and girl guide initiatives as major tool of inculcating patriotism among children.

Ssonko Bongole the Assistant Resident District Commissioner, Hoima while officiating the closuring ceremonies of girl guide and scouts’ activities held at Kigorobya Muslim Primary School and Kigorobya Seed School on Sunday  26th July,2026 emphasized that scouting and girl guide initiatives should be used to instill discipline, patriotism, team work and nurture students into responsible citizens in future.

The Hoima District Woman Member of Parliament Hon Wembabazi Beatrice who graced the function said that school children should be taught how to fight corruption, being creative and innovative and survival skills through such initiatives. She pledged to lobby for more support of scouting and girl guide activities.

Mwesigwa Stephen Rwamukaga the Senior Assistant Secretary who represented the Chief Administrative Office, Hoima urged all schools to embrace extra-cocurricular to discover and mentor talents among children.

Sr. Tito Winyi Secondary school emerged winners in both the girl guide and scouts categories and Kyaporoni Primary school won both the girl guide and scouts primary schools’categories.

Under girl guide category,13 schools participated including 11 primary schools and 2 secondary schools whereas 5 schools participated in scouts category with 3 primary schools and 2 secondary schools.

Harriet Asiimwe the Inspector of Schools, Hoima who is the girl guide and scout’s focal person says the initiatives are bearing positive fruits but are still constrained by underfunding.

Baitwa Julius Godolo the LCIII Chairperson Kigorobya Town Council graced the function and several community members and the district executive committee of scouts and girl guide, Hoima.
