Hoima District commits efforts to improving road network

Hoima District leadership has committed to focus all efforts to improving and increasing the road network as a key element of promoting social-economic transformation.

According to the Hoima District LCV Chairman Uthumani Mugisha Kadiri, the district has been able to work on atleast 75 percent of the total road network of 550 Kilometers.

In the first quarter of the 2025/2026 financial year; the district has so far  worked on roads including Kyarubanga-Bukerenge road (3KM), Kisabagwa-Bugandale(10KM) and Kigorobya-Waaki (7.2KM).

Others which were completed in the fourth quarter of the 2024/2025 financial year include;

Kitoba-Kyabasengya-Kaboijana(15KM), Kyeramya-Kiganja-Ndaragi(6KM), Kihambya-Kyabanati-Miramira (10KM) and Buraru-Wagesa (13KM).

He says all these roads and others set to be worked on, are meant to improve on the road network in the district and also ease access to markets by agricultural and local business communities.

He says there is need for government to increase on funding for roads worked on by sub counties.

Today, the district executive committee members led by the LCV Chairperson carried out a monitoring exercise on the ongoing maintenance works on Kisabagwa-Bugandale road.They have also monitored the completed works on Kitoba-Kyabasengya-Kaboijana and Buraru-Wagesa road .

The team has called for improving on drainage system on all roads.

Irumba Vicent the supervisor of works for Hoima district says all roads are being worked on using the One billion shillings sent to the district. He says more roads will be worked. The district receives 250 million each quarter to work on roads.

Working on the roads has greatly improved on market accessibility and transport in communities.

Godwin Kasigwa a farmer in Kisabagwa says that before the Kisabagwa-Bugandale road was worked on, people were not easily transporting their agriculture produce to markets. He however says that the intervention of the district on the road has had a positive impact in their lives.

Bagonza Collins another resident of Kisabagwa-Katikara says the road network has greatly improved the quality of trade and agriculture in rural areas. He said that people can now access health centers and children can access schools with much ease unlike in the past.
