On the sidelines of the three days Explore Uganda together tour by Hoima district local government,the participants were treated to different mentorship and coatching in business skills,team work and family building.
In the first session prepared on Friday evening at New Fort View Hotel,the former CAO Hoima Elias Byamungu who is now retired strongly urged the hoima local government staff to build strong supportive families,raise responsible children and also focus on personal health by guarding against both communicable and non communicable diseases.
Byamungu said that civil servants should also focus on reading and aquiting themselves with updated information on latest government systems and information on different development issues in the country.He also urged the staff at all levels to avoid stress at work and also be proactive in nature.
He summarised his session with a call to the staff to avoid;being biased,impulsive actions which derail perfomance and be greatful to what they have.
On the second session held on Saturday evening at Virina Hotel in Kasese Municipality,the CAO Hoima,Emmanuel Ssempala urged the staff members to develope a bussiness nerve in order to fight against overdependency on salary.
Ssempala who is also an agribusiness and education entrepreneur said that people should start scanning their respective communities for business opportunities.
He said that Hoima district local government staff has people with different talents which can be turned into business enterprises.He also urged the members to work with thier families,create daily income,invest and also market their businesses. He supported the initiative of forming the Hoima district local government staff Sacco.
On team building,the retired former Hoima district planner Mr Byakagaba JW gave a powerful session on team capacity building.He said that people should not only work as a team but as co-captains where they should take full shared responsibility.
He said that based on all standards,the purpose of team building to solve problems,being creative and inovative,creation of jon satisfaction and institutional culture.
In his conclusion,he said that team work should be embraced and warned members against self entitlements.
