Hoima District Chairman pleads with teachers to be sympathetic to the learners affected by the industrial action
The LCV Chairman for Hoima district Uthuman Mugisha Kadiri Junior has urged head teachers in government schools to continue engaging teachers and urge them to at least consider attending to candidates’ classes who are nearing the national examinations period.
Uthuman says while the government is engaging UNATU on their salary increment issues, teachers should bear in mind that primary seven, senior four and senior candidates are set to sit for their final exams and they need more attention at this critical point.
He made the remarks on Friday at the handover of science kits from the ministry of education and sports to 20 government primary school in Hoima district at the district headquarters.He fears that the continued industrial action is likely to plunge the academic performance to lower levels of teachers do not consider the candidates classes.
On science kits, Uthuman has urged the beneficiaries to use the kits to advance the teaching of basic science in primary schools.
The Hoima RDC who was represented by Assistant RDC Shafiq Ntuuyo has warned the schools against misusing the kits.
On the teachers’ industrial action, the RDC said the government will reach an amicable point with the teachers through dialogue.He urged teachers to go back to schools and attend to the children of the nation.
The Hoima DEO Harriet Kihumuro says the science kits which have been distributed to 200 government schools.
She says the kits are meant to be used to help learners acquire basic science skills and knowledge.
The Hoima CAO who was represented by the Principal Assistant Secretary Evelyne K Businge urged the beneficiaries to ensure there is value for public funds by putting them to right purposeful use.
