Hoima district benchmarks on Fort Portal City,Bundibugyo district on Tourism Revenue Enhancement.


The team also participated in the hiking of the Kyeganywa hill which forms part of the creator Lakes laying below the footmarks of the hill. Here,many people both Ugandans and other foreigners were found hiking the hill and appreciating nature.
The Hoima district tourism officer Mbahenzireki Veronica who was part of the team said that Hoima district has a great potential of transforming its tourism sector given its unique beautiful nature.
On Saturday,the team hit the road to Bundibugyo to visit the Sempaya hotsprings in the Semuliki national park.Hoima has the Kibiro hot springs and Salt Gardens in Kiganja sub county. The Hoima CAO Emmanuel Ssempala said that Hoima should look at turning its Kibiro hot springs to a level of Sempaya which attracts more tourists and more revenue.The Sempaya hot springs have two sections(Male and Female) which are located in the Semuliki national park.
Dr Kajura Charlse the district production officer said that after the benchmarking tour,all stakeholders in Hoima district should focus all efforts towards realizing full potential of tourism sector and revenue ehnancement.
Hoima draws lessons from Katwe Salting mining activities.
After visiting the highly busy and vastile Katwe Salt mining activities at Lake Katwe in Kasese district,Hoima district has drawned some key  lessons that will be used to enhance revenue collection and value addition to the Kibiro Salt mining gardens.
Lake Katwe which is known of its unique nature of rich natural salt,employs hundreds of people in the salt mining pans.The same Lake attracts tourists from different spheres of life.
While Hoima has got Kibiro salt gardens,its yet to fully realize its potential in terms of revenue collection and attracting multitudes of tourists.
During the Exlpore Uganda tour by Hoima district local government staff,the team visited the salt mining pans on Sunday afternoon.At Katwe salt mining pans,the mining actvities have been limited to only two days in a week to avoid exhausition of the salt deposists because of the many numbers of people in the mines

Hoima district local government has benchmarked on revenue enhancement from tourism sector from Fort Portal Tourism city.
During the  tour in the Rwenzori region by Hoima district local government staff dubbed EXPLORE UGANDA TOGTHER which started on Friday in Fort Portal city and ended Sunday evening in Kasese district,the tour participants led by CAO Emmanuel Ssempala,visited several tourism sites which have been conserved to generate revenue from both domestic and foreign tourists.
In Fort Portal city,the team visited the famous and historical rich site of Amabere ga nyinamwiru conservation site. This place has unique phyiscal features of Stalagmites and stalactites and a unique ecosystem of birds and animals. This place which has been conserved on an intact forested area attracts hundreds of tourists on a daily basis.
