Eight students have been successfully verified and recommended to benefit from the district quota system.
While handing over the recommendations letters to the program beneficiaries in the office of the LCV Chairman on Tuesday afternoon, the Hoima Resident District Commissioner-RDC Rodgers Mbabazi urged them to be good ambassadors of Hoima district and also use the opportunity to acquire education and become responsible Citizens of the nation.
The Hoima district Chairman Uthuman Mugisha Kadiri Junior said that the government continuous support for the quota system at the district level is the manifestation of NRM’s commitment to boosting education in the country.
He urged the beneficiaries to go and acquire education and productive skills which they will use to develop Bunyoro region and the country at large.
He also warned the beneficiaries against scandalous lifestyles which will derail them from achieving their goals.
He said that education ministry is still considering Hoima city under Hoima district when it comes to quota system something which he said should be changed in order to have Hoima city considered in it’s own to increase the number of beneficiaries from both the district and City.

The students are;
Murungi Vivian-Bachelor of Arts in economics-Kyambogo University,
Muhinda Marvis-Bachelor of medicine and surgery-Lira University,
Atugonza Simon-Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering-Makerere University,
Tusingwire Mathias-Bachelor of science in Tourism and Hospitality-Makerere University,
Namutebi Mackline-Bachelor of science in education (Physical)-MUST,
Talemwa Joseph-Bachelor of Business Administration-Kyambogo University,
Wamani Jophas-Bachelor of science in Tourism and Hospitality-Makerere and Kato Joseph-Bachelor of engineering in environmental engineering-Kyambogo University.
Unlike in the previous quota system considerations, the students have this time been given an opportunity to alter the courses to a limit of four.
Parents of the beneficiaries have commended Hoima district leadership and the NRM government for the scholarships.
One of the beneficiaries Atugonza Simon,said that his dream of studying electrical engineering has finally come to be a true reality He has applauded the NRM government for supporting the poor and needy children on merit.
