CNOOC and the Ministry of Energy has today held a meeting with Hoima District Executive
Today Hoima District Executive Committee, has held a meeting with CNOOC and the Ministry of Energy at the district headquarters. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the progress of various projects in the oil and gas sector, including land acquisition, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and the skilling of both project-affected persons (PAPs) and non-PAPs.
Progress made on the central processing unit, titling and acquisition of PAPs land, livelihood restoration programs, and opportunities in the oil and gas sector were discussed.
CNOOC shared the efforts being made to skill both PAPs and non-PAPs in the oil and gas sector. We believe that this is a crucial step towards empowering the local communities and equipping them with the necessary skills to participate in the various projects and be able to tap on the opportunities that come along. This will not only promote economic growth in the region but also create job opportunities for the local people.
The District Chairperson Mr. Mugisha Uthuman Mubaraka appealed to the Ministry of Energy to support the district to overcome the different challenges and community concerns underlying the oil and gas sector, and the Ministry pledged to investigate and address these concerns.
