Hoima District leaders have today made a benchmarking tour on revenue mobilization in Wakiso District
The study visit tour was aimed at getting practical experience on how Wakiso district handles its revenue collection and share experience between the two districts.
During the tour, Wakiso CAO Mr. Malinga Alfred highlighted on the different sources available in the district and how they utilise them to generate revenue and also shared the different experiences. It was noted that the district has upholded accountability of all taxes collected from the public and brought all stakeholders on board during all the processes of tax collection.
The district has carried out aggressive sensitization of the public on the obligation of tax payment, enabling them to generate a lot of revenue.
The district has embraced digitization agenda where by all revenue collections are automated on IRAS and Elog-rev to eliminate holding physical cash and embezzlement cases.
During the engagement, Hoima district CAO Mr. Ssempala Emmanuel appealed to the technical staff to apply the acquired knowledge and fully mobilize and increase the district revenue. He tasked all responsible officers to set targets and work towards achieving them.
The District Chairperson Hoima Mr. Uthuman Mugisa Mubarak in his remarks appreciated Wakiso district for accepting to host Hoima district and share their experience and knowledge. He called upon Hoima district technical staff and political leaders to work together as a team to enable revenue mobilization.
Team work and coordination will enable Hoima to increase revenue collection and enable overall district development, He said
